I hope we continue to see this level of dedication towards future character designs, especially as we move towards other regions with which Chinese developers may not be as familiar!Įdit: I respect those who disagree with my take, but those of you who are using the logic of "they don't deserve praise for doing something right because they did XYZ wrong in the past, e.g. We can only speculate that they gave Yun Jin this amount of care and attention to faithfully represent Chinese opera, not just as a cash grab. This was NOT a cash grab move since they won't reap significant economic benefits like they would had Yun Jin been a limited 5*.
This is especially considering that THEY PUT IN THIS MUCH EFFORT KNOWING THAT THEY WILL GIVE ONE FOR FREE DURING LANTERN RITE. Chinese opera isn't for everyone, and that's okay, but regardless of whether you like this art form, we should all give MHY massive props for how they treated Yun Jin.
From her moveset, to her animations faithfully capturing the traditional Chinese opera movements in dancing and fighting, now to hiring an extra VA to actually perform the singing, MHY really outdid themselves when it comes to character design.
